Where is your barramundi grown?
Humpty Doo Barramundi is grown on our family owned and operated farm in the Northern Territory, halfway between Darwin and Kakadu National Park.
What does barramundi taste like?
Our barra has juicy, white scalloping flesh with a clean, mild flavour. No strong ‘fishy’ taste.
What do you feed your barramundi?
Our Barramundi are fed a pellet that closely resembles their natural diet. It contains a mix of fish, fish oil and other proteins from human food production. Our feed contains no antibiotics, growth hormones or colourants.
Do you use antibiotics, hormones or artificial colourants?
Our fish feed does not contain antibiotics, artificial growth promoters, hormones or compounds to colour the flesh.
How does barramundi farming impact the environment?
Humpty Doo Barramundi is farmed in ponds that replicate the Barramundi's natural environment.
Saltwater circulates our ponds and through our wetland system where saltwater grasses clean the nutrients from the water so it can be reused for farming, minimising the need to discharge water off the farm.
Is farmed barramundi safe to eat?
Yes! Barramundi has no pin bones, making it ideal for families. Humpty Doo Barramundi feeds its fish a diet that replicates the fish's natural diet as closely as possible. Fish are harvested and chilled quickly before being packed and distributed around Australia. Strict health and safety laws apply to farmed Barramundi, ensuring our Barramundi is healthy and safe for you to eat.
Is wild barramundi better than farmed barramundi?
Wild or farmed, Australian Barramundi is tasty, healthy and safe to eat. Always ask for Aussie Barra!
