Record demand for Barra this Easter
Humpty Doo Barramundi scooped a record number of fish this Easter, with more than 100 tonnes of premium saltwater Barramundi harvested from their sustainable family farm in the lead up to celebrations. (See this ABC news article on the harvest https://ab.co/2IJNKma)
Demand for Australian Barramundi skyrocketed in the lead up to Easter as people indulged in the other popular Easter treat - seafood. A majority of the harvest made its way to markets in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with smaller amounts satisfying the local Northern Territory and overseas markets. Seafood is a popular source of protein in the weeks leading up to Easter, as traditionally red meat is avoided for cultural and religious reasons.
Humpty Doo Barramundi hopes everyone had a safe and happy Easter, and we wish a Happy Easter to those anticipating Orthodox Easter celebrations this weekend.
