  • Humpty Doo Barramundi is a winner in the delicious. Harvey Norman 2019 Queensland State Produce Awards – From the Sea category.
  • Entry to the prestigious delicious. Produce Awards is by invitation only, on nomination by a recognised leading Australian chef.
  • Humpty Doo Barramundi considers winning the award to be a testament to the dedication of our team as they nurture our fish across all areas of the farm, from nursery to delivering our award winning fish to discerning chefs around the country

“We were absolutely thrilled just to be nominated by Queensland chefs,” says CEO and co-owner of Humpty Doo Barramundi Dan Richards.  “As one of the six winners of the Produce Awards hero category ‘From the Sea’ for Queensland is proof that our constant striving over the past 26 years to improve our Barramundi, improve our techniques, it was all worth it.”

Humpty Doo Barramundi is a family owned and operated saltwater Barramundi farm halfway between Darwin and Kakadu National Park. Humpty Doo Barramundi has been growing Barramundi since 1993, and the Richards family behind Humpty Doo Barramundi are a long-term Territory family.

Believers in continuous improvement, Humpty Doo Barramundi attributes the win to the excellent team working across the farm. From the nursery, to monitoring water quality, feeding regimes, harvesting, packing and the supporting areas which assist the farm’s operations.

“We entered the awards because our family would consider winning a delicious Food Award to be a highlight of our 26 years in farming. We grow Barramundi because we love Barramundi and pride ourselves on providing a quality saltwater Barramundi to Australia; having our Barramundi recognised by delicious. Queensland judges is recognition that we have achieved a high-quality premium product deserving of Australia’s own iconic fish.”

There are six winners in the From the Sea category.

"Congratulations to all the winners, we are honoured to be included in a very high calibre group of fishers and producers," says Dan.

“This win is recognition of the high eating-quality of our Barramundi and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and the care they give our Barramundi. They battle crocs, mozzies, high humidity and extreme heat to nurture and harvest our delicious saltwater Barramundi. Last year even floods and cyclones couldn’t deter them. This award is for them.”
